Picton Picturefest is in part inspired by “A Pilgrimage,” an August 2009 event in which actress Tilda Swinton and filmmaker Mark Cousins gathered together 50 people from around the world to help them physically pull a mobile movie theater through the Scottish Highlands. Attended by Picturefest co-creator Peter Knegt, the event was defined by the generosity and creativity that Cousins and Swinton put forth in facilitating something that found a way to present cinema as community in such an organic and joyous way.
